Statement of Condemnation

The General Secretariat of the Association of Senates, Shoora and Equivalent Councils in Africa and Arab World(ASSECAA) condemns the heinous act of burning a copy of the Holy Quran by an extremist in front of a mosque in Stockholm, Sweden, which took place on the first day of Eid al-Adha.

Allowing the extremist person by the Swedish authorities to burn a copy of the Holy Quran in public is a clear insult to Muslims and their beliefs.

It also represents an instigation to extremism and terrorism under the banner of false democracy and freedom of expression.

The General Secretariat strongly denounces both this heinous act as well as the move by the Swedish government to promote such offensive actions against Muslims.

We also call on the Swedish government to stop supporting the wave of extremism against Muslims and their beliefs in Sweden and to instantly issue an official apology to all Muslims around the world for such an act that was encouraged by the Swedish authorities who gave the green light to extremists to assemble in front of Islamic places of worship.
